I love visiting closets

Being almost 7 months pregnant really limits my wardrobe choices. I basically live in black leggings, long v-neck t-shirts, a cardigan, and moccasins. It gets kind of boring but I can't seem to desire anything from my clothes other than comfort these days. Especially while on bed rest at home... no point in dressing up for just my kitties. And no matter how many different ways I ask Josh how I look I always get the same answer from him (while not even looking at me) "you're always beautiful". Which is sweet... but not helpful when deciding what to wear. or when fishing for a specific compliment. And whenever I challenge him with "you're not even looking!" he replies "I've been checking you out the whole time".... touche husband. Touche. (LOVE that man).
But as time passes and I'm still in leggings, I can't help but day dream about exciting outfits, skinny jeans and clothes that require a waistline.... sigh. Whenever I'm feeling this way I go to the blog closetvisit.com and visit some rad chick's closets.
Here are some of my favourites from today.....

Blog Crush

I am head over heels IN LOVE with WE LIVE YOUNG!

A blog written by a young photographer in Australia  as she adventures through life and becomes a mother.
I seriously recommend checking her out :)

Rainy Wednesday

This week has really been an adjustment. Since I'm now on bed rest for the remainder of my pregnancy I am basically stuck at home for the next 13 weeks. It's really strange doing nothing all the time. But I must say- it could be worse. I get to sleep multiple times a day, read for hours, snuggle my hilarious kitties, spend hours on the internet, and spend a ridiculous amount of time in the bath. I feel like I'm going against my very BEING by just taking it easy all the time- every single day, so it is kind of unsettling. But as the days slowly pass, the next even more relaxing as than the other I find myself enjoying it more and more. It's really nice to be able to take all this time just for me, before all my time and energy are devoted to the little girl in my belly. Another perk of being home all the time is how I get to take care of Josh. I wake up with him every morning and make him breakfast and his lunch for the day. I even have dinner ready for him when he gets home. I feel it's the least I could do since he's completely supporting me while I'm on my unpaid maternity leave.  And he absolutely LOVES this arrangement. He's been in such a good mood lately. The better I feed him and take care of him the happier he is. I can see why this old fashioned dynamic has worked for so long. Our lives have such harmony with one person working and the other being the homemaker. I can't wait to add the little Minnow to the mix. I'm so blessed to be able to stay home with her. Once she's older I plan to turn our basement suite into a home day care so I can continue to be a stay at home mom but still making an income. I know this wouldn't be for everyone, but for me, being a mother has always been my number one dream. I think that's why I've been in childcare for so long; I am born to care for children.

I feel completely content with my beautiful life and the direction it's going in. Josh and I have honestly never been so in love in the past 5 years together as we are right now. Our lives have changed so much since I got pregnant. We used to spend all our time out on the town, at clubs and bars DJing, and with friends. Now we spend all our free time working on our home, our garden, and just enjoying each others' company. It's complete domestic bliss. The only little thing missing will be joining us soon :) Her little room is all set up and ready for her. We are beyond excited to meet her.
I am so thankful right now I feel like my heart is going to explode rainbows and fairy dust everywhere!

Merrily merrily merrily merrily life is but a dream.... <3

February Inspirations

Cozy spring sweater
I've officially started my maternity leave this week. I've had to take an extra 2 months more than I was anticipating- unpaid- due to unforeseen health concerns with my pregnancy. Nothing too serious, just some pain in my pelvis, abdomen, hips and back called symphysis pubis dysfunctions. Basically it means I have shooting pain if I bend, lift, go up stairs, go for long walks, push a stroller or pretty much anything relaying to my job in childcare. I'm pretty much supposed to be on bed rest. Which is practically impossible for someone hyper like me. I usually always have a hundred things going on a once, and many responsibilities, commitments and yoga classes. It's a pretty bizarre concept for me to just sit still and "take it easy".... for the next 3 months! I can manage a day or two of laziness but then I start to go mad and get stir crazy. There's just so much reading, knitting and tv I can take. I start to feel guilty and depressed that I'm wasting my days after a while.
At least I get to sleep 9-10 hours a night plus have a day time nap. The sleeping really is glorious. Pregnancy dreams are even more vivid and random than usual...and I'm a very lucid dreamer to begin with. I have a whole other life in my unconscious hours! And I guess it's good to stock up on sleeping hours before my little minnow arrives. I know that I'll be looking back on these lazy months with envy some day so I'm trying to make the most of it. I've already had a scare this week where I thought I might be going into preterm labor, so I HAVE to slow down. Might as well enjoy it!

Here's some inspirational pictures I've collected from the internet this week!

Aw <3

I'm soo craving some new ink. I love this simple one.

This is clearly a fake tattoo, but I love the concept. Would be a beautiful real one

I need these wine colour jeans. Or at least the same colour of legging to wear while pregnant

I love neutrals, and I love this outfit from LOOKBOOK.eu

I think it's about time I have a tea party. This one gives me hope for spring!

Fill in The Blank Friday

1.   My favorite place i've ever traveled to is     France! I've been to Paris, the french Alps and Provance. All of those trip were magical. I also loved Hawaii, Amsterdam, and Mexcio   .

2.    Greece or Bali     is somewhere I'd love to go someday.

3.  I pass the time on a plane (or bus, or car ride or train) by     listening to music and daydreaming. I get motion sickness if I try to do anything else     .

4.  My three must-haves when I travel are     iPOd    ,    meticulously organized small bag of everything I may need   and     water and snack

5.  My favorite travel companion is    my amazing momma. She's super organized and takes care of everything. When I travel with my husband I have to be the "mom"  .

6.  The craziest thing that ever happened to me while traveling is    when I was crossing the boarder from France to Belgium on the bus, the bus driver called me off the bus all by myself. I thought there was a problem with my passport, but as it turns out he just wanted to let me know I owed him a cleaning fee for puking on the bus. Most of it got in the baggie... but some dripped. LOL  .

7.  The most exotic food I've ever tried while traveling is    chicken eye ball on a survival course in Kananaskis Country, Alberta  .

8.  If I could live anywhere else, I'd live in    Hawaii. I absolutely LOVE everything about Hawaii  .

9.  I have been to    six
states in the U.S.

Fill in The Blank Friday (aka Thursday Night)

1.   The last thing I ate was     a Tums. This pregnancy heart burn is out of control  .

2.   The last song I listened to was    "Calgary"- Bon Iver. Bon Iver goes so nicely with the snow. (And I'm from Calgary!)      .

3.  Using the letters in my name I can spell    (Vanessa): ass...... that's all I got     .

4.  If I had to dress in one color for the rest of my life I would pick     black. Slimming and timeless. Also kind of bad ass   .

5.  If you were to look in my bag right now you'd find    wallet, lint roller, makeup, iphone, ipod, bus tickets, recycling I brought with me instead of throwing in the garbage, Book "A Game of Thrones"- George R. Martin, sketchbook, pens, coffee travel mug and hand cream for winter dryness .

6.  When I finish filling in the blanks I'm going to    going to make some hot chocolate  .

7.  My all time favorite song to dance to is    Right now it's "Sirens"- The Pack A.D., but it changes daily  .

Girly Winter Movies

These are my favourite films to watch curled up under a blanket under a pile of kitties, while snowflakes drift through the streets outside. This list is for the winter that remains after the glitz and glamor of the holidays, when all you are left with is cold, less money, and a whole year ahead of you. Slightly melancholy with much needed humor.
If Wes Anderson was a season he'd be winter. Or at least fall. This movie is perfect.

Snowy, moody, and with lots of vintage. Loves it.
This is also a good one to watch while pregnant. Clearly.

Ryan Gosling... I've loved you since Breaker High. Any thing you touch is gold.
Classic. Makes me want to wear long layers of skirts and petticoats and have feasts by the crackling fire.
To remind you that spring is just around the corner!

Just cuz

Shows you all the fun things you could be doing while it's snowing outside!

Enjoy this miserable season in style ;)
