Summer Lovin'

(Post from last night that didn't post due to internet deficiencies)

Last night I slept for 13 glorious hours. I had today off and I wanted to continue the construction of a summer camp I was building in my dream. It was a pretty satisfying dream :)
(My dream) It all started when I was trying to make mermaids with a "mermaid syrum" at the bottom of this tiny pond on a piece of land I purchased in my dream. In order to reach the bottom of the pond I had to jump off a helicopter to get thrown deep enough down. LOL. Needless to say, the mermaid syrum was a bust, so I then decided to use the piece of land I purchased to build a wicked summer camp for kids.

I was lucky enough to be able to go to horse camp every summer at Circle Square Ranch in Alberta, plus a couple other christian camps with my family. I treasure those warm memories and I guess so does my subconscious Ness :) Plus I always had this random idea of having a piece of land that runs a summer camp/self sufficient farm. I adore children, and this is basically what I already to as a career; I am really good at creating special memories with the kids I take care of, especially in the summer. I always imagine them looking back at those adventures we had with the same smile I do with mine.

After my glorious lie in Josh surprised me with a special day date by taking me out for lunch (since I had slept until 1pm) at our mutual favourite Milestones on the Inner Harbour. I had my usual California salad and Josh his usual burger. When we ordered our Bellinis we got them in FISHBOWL. Which my just woke up stomach later regretted...

Mermaid Bellinis... the reason I keep coming back ;)

After lunch we ran around town in the wonderful sunshine gathering all the things we needed for a lovely snuggle in the backyard; a new book for Josh from Chapters, more Palm Bays, food, ect... It was amazing to be in the shade an still be warm. Pure bliss. After we read for a while and discussed plans to renovate the backyard we retreated to the smallest room in the house for some movies and more snuggles... today was heaven. <3

Girly Summer Movies

If you don't already know, Blockbuster is going out of business by the end of this year,  meaning tons of $3 dvds!! I just stocked up on whole wack of them! That is definitely one of our favourite things to do to unwind at night, curl up and watch a good movie with some popsicles (our mutual obsession), some of BC's finest herb, and our kitties :)

I used to work at Blockbuster when I lived in England, plus I wanted to be an actress so my film knowledge is intense.  For summer time, I like to indulge in romance, hot far away lands, the 50's and 60's flash backs and vintage, and anything involving beaches and sunshine.

Here is a list of great summer girly movies I adore for you to enjoy :)

Beautifully sad, leaving you wanting more. Kirstin Dunst sure is in a lot of my favourite girly movies :)

Takes place in Tuscany, so this would be one of those destination movies I watch just so I can picture my summer there. This one's full of romance and poetry :)

Guilty pleasure. I love Rachel Leigh Cook.

The book is a million times better than this movie, but I love anything that showcases L.A. and the haunting magic within.

A vintage flashback movie taking place in an all girls school. LOVE this movie. My sister and I watched this a million times one summer...

I have also watched this a million times,  love the vintage fashions and "on the road" feeling in this movie.

I watched this last night with Josh, who hadn't seen it. So sexy and kind of reminds me of a 90's Gossip Girl. Great soundtrack too!

This movie has everything I want in a movie. I recommend it to EVERYONE! Directed by Cameron Crowe (Almost Famous), it's falling on the floor hilarious and also a tear jerker. So good.

Whimsical and dreamy :) I like to get lost in this fantasy.

Definite summer time movie that has it's vintage flashback moments, and it also has Winona Ryder who I have a mad girl crush on :)

This was my childhood.... only in the 90s and with more Bart Simpson references.

Ulimate vintage southern bell movie. Perfect for summer night cocktails with your girlfriends.

i heart books

I haven't been blogging much lately because it's been so summery here on Vancouver Island so I've been outside as much as possible soaking up the sun and lazily reading.

This is a different cover than the one I bought.... mine is better :)
I just finished the Young Adult Fiction book "Sirens"by Tricia Rayburn. You can check it out HERE.
I loved it. It was an easy breezy summer read about gorgeous murderous mermaids who lure their lovers under the sea to their deaths. AND the main charactor is named Vanessa. :) A great girly fantasy to read while lying on the beach :)

I really wanted to read this before I saw the movie. Which I also really want to see :)
Currently I am reading Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. So far I am enthralled! It's really easy to get lost in the world of the depression era, travel by train, big top circus. I have ALWAYS, for as long as I can remember been mesmerized the circus. From attending the Shriners and Gatti Circuses as a kid, to the movie Big Top PeeWee (I was obsessed with PeeWee Herman!); anything circus related I was intrigued by. I am inside on one of the most beautiful summer days yet for the morning, just so I can catch up on blogging. But I definitely plan to take this book, my beach blanket, sunscreen and hat to a sunny beachy location as soon as I'm done here :). I have 4 glorious days off with my Mr and the forecast is all sunshine! Life is good.

This is my absolute FAVOURITE book of all time. I have read it 7 times, usually in the summer, and I plan to relish in the eight summer read right after Water For Elephants :) Check out my favourite anther's website HERE

Sorry for the lack of awesome blogs lately! It doesn't help that I lost the battery charger for my camera, so I haven't been taking as many pictures. But I'm getting another one today! Expect more pictures of my summer adventures around Vancouver Island!

Happy Summer ya'll ;)

Love,
Extreme Happy Ness! :)
